Presentation :

The Ramsays of Dalhousie laid the foundations of their family seat more than 700 years ago, and its ancient stones have witnessed a fascinating procession of historical events and famous guests, from Edward I and Oliver Cromwell to Queen Victoria and Sir Walter Scott. Set in acres of wooded parkland just eight miles from Edinburgh city centre, this is the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland. There are 29 room within the castle walls, all luxuriously furnished and thoughtfully-equipped with period furniture and top quality Scottish design textiles. A further six newly designed bedrooms are in the century-old Castle Rocks Lodge a short walk away overlooking the South Esk River. For excellent cuisine in an extraordinary atmosphere, you can’t do better than the 2 AA Rosette-winning Dungeon restaurant. Set in the castle’s ancient barrel-vaulted dungeons, the chef sources prepares classic Scottish dishing using local ingredients and French cooking techniques. For relaxed bistro fare, The Orangery is a convivial place to sample good food while enjoying panoramic views over the estate.  The Aqueous hydrotherapy spa is the first of its kind in Scotland, offering invigorating and rejuvenating hydrotherapy facilities such as a Hydro Pool with multi-massage water jets, Kneipp foot baths, where your feet are massaged on stones and pebbles, tropical Rain and Fog showers, and comfortable lounge beds in the Tepidarium. The spa also offers a full range of relaxing treatments using Darphin products to reduce stress and promote a healthy body and mind.
